SYMPTOMS
Chest pain
In 50% of the cases, the pain is typical: it is the angina pectoris or angina which results from an imbalance between the needs in oxygen of the cardiac muscle and the contributions by the vessels.
It is of retrosternal seat in bar. It radiates in both shoulders, forearms, wrists and jaws, sometimes in the back. It is constrictive and/or distressing (angina). Its intensity is variable: from simple thoracic discomfort to unbearable or syncopal pain.
It occurs exclusively during effort in the more severe form, especially when walking, but also in cold weather and against the wind.
The pain can be atypical by its epigastric location or limited to the radiations. It can also be absent as in patients suffering from diabetes.
Palpitations
Abnormal perception of the heartbeat in the chest, e.g., feeling that the heart is beating too hard, too fast or irregularly. Often anxiety.
